Organization Background

ACI is a consortium of 23 private, liberal arts colleges and universities across Illinois. Within our network, we operate the Center for Success in High-Need Schools (Center), which is committed to the preparation of new teachers for high-needs K-12 schools.

Job Description

We are looking to build a math/science component into our Center program with an emphasis on gender-equitable pedagogy at the middle grades. Because so many of the K-12 districts our colleges serve have high ELL student populations, we are looking for someone to contract with who has expertise in K-12 ESL teaching with an understanding of how girls learn math and science. This person would be training college teacher prep faculty specifically how to infuse key research and strategies into their pre-service curriculum. This is a consulting position. The person would be required to perform between one and three trainings a year and provide technical assistance as needed. Between 7 and 14 campuses will be participating. This position is contingent upon funding through a National Science Foundation grant which would fund this initiative for 5 years. Documented experience working with gender and ELL community is a must.
