Summer Lead Teacher

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Coordinate academic component of Summer Vacation program for international high school students. ESL classes: 9 a.m. -12 p.m., Monday – Friday • As needed hire and train new teachers • Administer placement test to new student groups and place students in appropriate levels • Provide AETS headquarters with placement test results and class rosters • As enrollments change, reorganize classes to fit appropriate staffing ratios • Orient new teachers to program and facilities • Distribute, monitor, and collect teaching materials, supplies, equipment, etc.

• Monitor teachers and classrooms to ensure quality of program maintained • Monitor classes to ensure students prepared with sightseeing lessons and materials • When needed, substitute teach ESL classes • Represent AETS to visiting overseas representatives • Liaise with university staff • Report directly to Center Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

•Previous hiring, training, and supervisory experience •Previous ESL teaching experience focused on student-centered learning required •Knowledge of major sightseeing attractions in Chicago •Familiarity with communities and area surrounding universities •Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with multi-cultural groups.

WAGE: $600 per week

NOTE: Only candidates who have lived or worked in Chicago area or near the universities will be considered as local staff provide added value to students. AETS does not provide for travel or moving expenses.
