DETAILS:

Part-time position currently open, starting January 2010.

Monday through Thursday Mornings, ESL Level 1 Class time: 8:30 AM-11:30 AM 20 hours paid (12 classroom hours, 8 prep hours)

The assignment includes classroom teaching and paid preparation time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Plans and delivers instruction to enrolled adult learners at times and location assigned and within program curriculum and service guidelines.

2. Is present in the classroom at least 15 minutes before start time (8:15am).

3. Assesses adult learners’ skills, needs, and interests. Helps students set attainable goals and plans.

4. Observes the progress of learners, and keeps records and documentation of individual progress.

5. Collaborates and consults with other staff members toward integration of all program components.

6. Actively works on professional growth by attending conferences, staff meetings, and pre-service and in-service training as provided. Researches and applies effective curriculum, instructional methods, and materials.

7. Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

At least one year full-time equivalent of teaching experience in a similar setting; Bachelor's degree required (Master’s or Certificate preferred) in Teaching ESL, Applied Linguistics, English, or a related field from an accredited college or university; and Very good oral and written communication skills (in English) are required. Fluency in a foreign language is recommended.
