Human Resources Assistant
Highland Community College is accepting applications for the full time, grant funded position of Coordinator, Student Support Services in our Adult Education Department. This position is responsible for the recruitment and retention of all Adult Education students. This position will develop and deliver orientation to all new GED/Basic skills students and coordinate transportation to and from all Freeport classes for students. This position will also respond to grant goals, teacher requests and student needs and develop retention and goal completion efforts for ABE/ASE students. A large component of this position will consist of providing academic counseling, transition to college, tutoring and job assistance to students. Working with the Public Relations department this position will assist in the development of recruitment materials for the Adult Education program.
A Bachelor’s degree is required with an emphasis in Education, Social Work or Counseling preferred. Must have three years experience in working with the curriculum for and needs of adult learners. Excellent oral and written communication skills required, as well as a strong desire to develop and continue community partnerships. Some evenings required.
