Higher Ed SIG Update: Advocating for StudentsBy Hannah Harris and Kathleen ReynoldsThank you to all who attended and showed interest in the Higher Education Special Interest Group (SIG)! The Fall Mini-Convention had a great turn out and was definitely a recharging event to attend with like-minded colleagues. The theme of advocacy was consistent throughout the speakers' presentations and discussions. For the Higher Education SIG, we talked about ways that we can advocate for our students within our classrooms, departments, and universities. A key point of the discussion was the need for teachers to be informed about resources and knowledgeable about ways to propose change to advocate for students. To make steps towards this goal, we plan to meet again outside of scheduled ITBE events to further discuss our progress towards implementing our ideas. The meeting was productive, and we look forward to collaborating more with you all. Sincerely, Hannah Harris and Kathleen Reynolds Hannah Harris and Kathleen Reynolds are the chairs of the Higher Education SIG (Special Interest Group). | |
