A Few Words from the Higher Ed SIGBy Mary Jorgenson SullivanThanks to everyone who participated in the Higher Ed SIG meeting during the ITBE Convention! It was great to see you all, and your contributions to the discussion were incredibly valuable. During the meeting, we discussed lessons from pandemic to face-to-face teaching, technology to maximize class time, and the response to Bill HB2170 (Academic ESL sequence at Illinois Community Colleges). This bill may require the completion of college-level English courses within 2 semesters. Dr. Ana King spoke about the potential impact of the bill on our student population. If you would like a copy of the action memo, please email mjorgens@itbe.org. Participants at the Higher Ed SIG meeting represented a wide variety of Illinois colleges and universities. We encourage anyone who is interested in sharing their thoughts and experiences to check out the ITBE webpage and to get involved. Speaking of getting involved, ITBE wants you! Nominations for board members are being accepted. Please consider nominating yourself to act as a chair or co-chair of the Higher Ed SIG. Board meetings are held monthly on Saturdays. If you are interested, please contact Mary Jorgenson Sullivan at mjorgens@itbe.org. | |
