Stay safe with our Covid Protocol
ITBE will follow Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and CDC guidelines at the time of the convention. In addition, ITBE will implement the following measures:
- Masks are to be worn at all times, except while eating in the dining room.
- No drinking or eating will be allowed in breakout presentation rooms.
- Lunch will be served to avoid gathering around buffet tables.
- Dining room space will be expanded to allow for fewer chairs per table and social distancing.
- Exhibitors will be in the hallways and open areas.

We are pleased to invite you to our 47th Annual Convention, “Pulling Together: Embracing Multicultural Learners with Support, Strategies, and Skills for Challenging Times”. As we think about the educational implications left by the pandemic, there is an increased need for practical strategies in using technology, practicing equity and wellness in order to meet the needs of all learners, in particular those or multilingual learners.
Please join our ITBE community for two days of in-person learning, sharing and engaging in meaningful discussions about what we are most passionate about: embracing English learners from all corners with support, strategies and skills in this very challenging learning environment.
We are very excited to announce the 2022 Convention speakers, with our kick-off on Friday Morning with Keynote Speaker CEO of Chicago Public Schools, Pedro Martinez. In the afternoon, Plenary Speaker Dr. Stephen Krashen will join us virtually with a pre-recorded video presentation. Saturday morning's Keynote Speaker is Debbie Sternecky, LSW, MSW, MSEd - Child psychotherapist and in the afternoon Plenary Speaker Carly Spina, Education Specialist at Illinois Resource Center (IRC), will also join us virtually with a pre-recorded video presentation.
