Illinois Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages/Bilingual Education (ITBE) is excited to host our first virtual Fall workshop on Saturday, October 17, 2020!
This year’s theme is Remote Learning: Opportunities from Obstacles. The current situation with the pandemic has the educational system dependent on this new instructional approach.
We kick off our morning sessions with our keynote speaker, Karina Zuno-Chapa, presenting “The Revolutionary Power of Bilingualism: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities”. In the afternoon, our featured speaker, Gina Johnson Wells, kicks off with her session titled “Advocacy and Equity in Unpredictable Times”
We have concurrent sessions throughout the day focusing on ideas on how educators responded to this huge obstacle called COVID. The presentations will talk about how this pandemic gave you the opportunity to empower learners and parents, increase communication, expand collaboration, and adjust instruction. We are all in this together, and we can all help and learn from each other to seize opportunities from obstacles.
We are looking forward to meeting many of you virtually.
